No matter what time of year it is, I look forward to getting back to the Colorado San Juans to hunt for thick wildflowers and flowing waterfalls. There's something about the wildflowers in a beautiful landscape that (for me) feels like the icing on the cake.

In this case, I had just completed a solo tour of the San Juans. It was a wonderful experience - filled with hikes to 13,000 foot passes, backpacking, car camping, starry nights, and lots of wildflowers. When it was over, it was August and I woke up near this spot just below Clear Lake near Silverton, Colorado.

How I Got The Shot
I didn't have a neutral density filter for the shot and under normal circumstances, would have preferred to have used one. I really like silky smooth water and I think an even longer exposure time might have helped. In this case, I just dropped my ISO as low as I could and found 1/3 of a second worked pretty well.
