Sunrise along Lake Michigan's north shore, by Pierhead lighthouse in Kenosha Wisconsin. The historic conical tower.
Pierhead is fifty feet tall and bright red in color. And is listed on the national register as being used since 1856. It is now privately owned.
A pierhead lighthouse has been present at Kenosha as early has 1856. By the early 1900s, the Kenosha Harbor had undergone some major renovations. Two new piers were constructed which jutted out into the lake, as well as an enhanced break-wall to protect the north pier from the fury of Lake Michigan.
Kay Novy (kkphoto1) Have always been interested in art in one form or another. Started out as a hairdresser, then oil and water color painter. Have taken many art classes, but it was a series of photography classes that I knew I was hooked! Love it.
