Artist's Description
This is an abstract piece which combines many different layers and textures. It has a base of acrylics mixed over many layers with a variety of spray paints, metallic paints and acrylics with sand, pearlescence and heavy gloss glaze medium. It has a range of textured blues and some hints of silver and light silver within it.
About Maia Newley
Maia Newley is an expressionist painter who lives between the USA and the UK. She has recently finished a mammoth project which involved two series of paintings, the first being 'The Dante Series' (a book of prints from this series of works will be published in February 2014) and the second being 'The Faust Series' (to be published Autumn 2014). The Dante Series has been exhibited widely in both the UK and the USA and the Faust Series will shortly be on exhibition in London (autumn 2013). Maia occasionally paints in a more representational style, mostly portrait work, but her main focus is that of abstract expressionism. She takes commissions rarely and only if they interest her!
