Emigrant Gap is a gap in the Sierras just past Donner Summit. It got it's name during the gold rush days where emigrants lowered their wagons by rope down the mountain to cross the American and Bear River drainage.
Now days it's just a beautiful spot along highway 80.
I drive through Donner Pass and Emigrant gap roughly a dozen times a year. Many times I just drive on through. It all depends on the time of day and where the sun is and how big of a hurry I am to get home.
I captured this one on my way back from a day skiing. I knew that by the time I was done skiing and made my way down the mountain I would probably hit this area right around sunset.
This area has easy access as there is a scenic turnoff right on...
Thank you for taking your time to visit my galleries. I'm a photographer that makes his home in Northern California. I love getting out shooting the outstanding scenery that this area has to offer. I may be in Yosemite one weekend and the Napa wine country the next. I try not to set limits on where, when or what I shoot.
I've been shooting photography now for roughly six years and am learning something new everytime I go out. If you see anything you like please leave a comment, I'll try my best to acknowledge it. If you have any suggestions please feel free to share them.
Eventually I plan on branching out to children and pets.
Please come back often as I am continously adding new work.
If you see work that you like...
