This has been a concept i have wanted to photograph for some time… How would we interact with each other, if our emotional bruises, took physical form?
The bruising on my arms are due to a recent mishap that occurred while i was attempting a new 1-2-3 circuit training workout, that i was doing with dumbells. I decided to use the bruising on my arms to my advantage and finally photographed this series.
I have poor depth-perception and will probably never have 20/20 vision. So i am forever running into walls, tripping over myself and bumping into things. I bruise easy… and am a major klutz!! At least i can find ways to use these mishaps to my creative advantage.

I am a self-taught taught artist that discovered my passion of photography, back in 1995, while writing my first book, Haunting Hands. A book initially intended to be a collection of poems i had written about surviving a difficult childhood. I decided it would feel more personal if i created the cover for the book myself. Shortly thereafter, i purchased a camera and turned my living room into a makeshift studio. I did a series of self-portraits and then another and another. The process of creating and putting myself in front of the camera felt cathartic, liberating and healing....
