A humble woman is so unified in her heart with the Virgen de Guadalupe, that La Virgen comes to her. Their meeting is a full on encounter and joining. This is a true story of a beautiful indigenous Mexican woman I had the great fortune to spend time with over years. The Guadalupe tradition and church is strong on certain pueblos of the Southwest.
I am self taught. I have painted fulltime since 2001 , beginning in watercolor. Many images of the first years were done with my eyes closed. This was about being called, or engaged ,by the sense perception that is mindless, free of image . It required listening to this wordless subtle sense and put marks down on the paper without second guessing.
Each year since I have created a series of work that I have shown and then selected pieces for a print series. I now work mainly in pastel and oil but not exclusively.
