Red Square in Moscow, Russia, lies in the center of Moscow and is deep in tradition, culture and history.

Consisting of icons from history it is comprised of St Basils Cathedral, Kazan Cathedral, the Kremlin Wall, Lenins Mausoleum, Resurrection Gate, the Iberian Chapel and GUM department store, each a story unto itself.

Previously know as Trinity Square and also Fire Square it became popular as Red Square in the 17th Century. The name has nothing to do with communism or with the color of many of its buildings but is a derivative of the Russian language.

Know for its huge parades and displays of military equipment and personnel in May the square that was the sight of brutal public executions in the 14th and 15th century is now the site of rock concerts and festivals and is the most visited site in Moscow.
