About the Image

Erosion at Work by Serena Bowles

Dover: the Gateway to England. For thousands of years Dover has been the first port of call for many visitors to England, and the coastal town is known worldwide for the famous white cliffs. The cliffs are part of the North Downs formation, and reach up to 107 metres in places. Being made of chalk, the cliffs are particularly susceptable to erosion, as this sign warns. About the Artist - Serena Bowles

Serena Bowles

Born in Dover, England, I became disillusioned with the rat race and began travelling in 1997. On my first round the world trip I discovered a passion for travel, photography and scuba diving. Since then I have spent a total of five years on the road, become a diving instructor and semi-professional photographer along the way. I prefer to go it alone, enjoying the flexibility that comes with travelling solo. I've clocked up 48 countries so far, and still have so much left to see. . . .
