I fell in love with this photo the day that Jan posted it. The cards are beautiful, frame able for a small space. I like that they have plenty of room for writing or doodling inside.

Artist's Description

Face mask production, 19th-century artwork. During the 19th century, face masks of famous people, or fancy dress masks for use at masked balls, were popular. The moulds were made of wax or plaster of paris, from which the masks to be worn were made from materials ranging from paper to linen. The masks being made here are full ones, but half masks covering only the eyes and nose were also made. Both types of masks would be painted and decorated by hand. Artwork from the 17th volume (first period of 1896) of the French popular science weekly 'La Science Illustree'.
