Subtitled for my own purpose, 'The Tapestry of Pain', this is a depiction of the pain of trauma. That pain takes various forms and its twists and turns can be elusive, one moment seeming to vanish and the next returning full force to wring every bit of sense from one's life. In the throes of such twisting and contorting pain, a human being is often incapable of doing anything whatsoever. The most astonishing thing about the tapestry of pain is that it can seem to those outside its grasp that the sufferer is perfectly fine, normal, healthy.... maybe just seeking attention or worse. About the leaf:
The leaf you will see in all of my later paintings, is my personal artist signature and contains my initials, so it represents me, but also often takes a quasi-human role to represent a single person or an 'everyone'. The leaf changes, evolves, and its placement, size and colour are adjusted to suit the painting, which may include it as a sort of observer in the scene, a nearly hidden element, or even a focal point. It may represent various things, as well. It is left to the viewer to assign any meaning to it or to determine how I see it, myself.
