Independence. Courage. Fearlessness. Determination. Forging your own path. Don't look back. These are some of the attributes my wife and I are instilling in our little daughter, who is the "traveler" in this image. She was three when I made this picture.
We were visiting my Grandmother in Calgary, Canada. She lives on a ranch type house at the foothills of the Canadian Rockies in British Columbia. Wide open spaces and mountains dominate the landscape. See our Elbow Falls collection for more images from this area.
This would work perfectly in a child's room, nursery, or any environment that needs inspirational messages and posters.
We've all heard the expression "a picture is worth a thousand words"...so true. I like to take that one step further and say "a good picture needs no words." When I make an image, I want it to speak for itself. No words needed to conveyor influence how the viewer should feel. Viewing art is subjective. I want my work to emote individual, original, authentic and 'real' emotions from whomever I am lucky enough to have viewing it. After all, we were Viewers before we were Readers. It's innate. View my work and hopefully it will move you in a positive way.
