This is one of the four huge portraits which the Vanguard nightclub in Hollywood, CA. commissioned me to paint last summer 2008. It is done in flourescent acrylic so it really pops under a blacklight. The owner of the Vanguard is super cool and the choice for this piece he gave to his super-star manager who loves Frida. I did not know much about Khalo but learned alot after taking this monumental task on, and found Frida to be a fascinating woman as well as wonderful artist. Hello, I'm Max Eberle. I've been an artist since I was three and I've always been into detailed work. Even if a piece takes five months to finish, the final result is worth the wait. Because of this I choose my subject matter carefully and put lots of thought into the composition and choosing a good photograph If I'm doing a portrait. I've always liked to be inspired, and those who inspire me are worthy of painting on a large scale, so you can't miss them when you walk into the room.
