This is from my Golf shed series No.2 I am taken by this particular area for some reason, perhaps the composition of the shapes. Monet painted the same haystacks in several outings to capture the light oi the moment. Haystacks is a title of a series of impressionist paintings by Claude Monet. The primary subjects of all of the paintings in the series are stacks of hay in the field after the harvest season. The title refers primarily to a twenty-five canvas series (Wildenstein Index Number 1266-1290) begun in the end of summer of 1890 and continued through the following spring, using that year's harvest. Charlie Spear was born in 1948 in the Midwest. The era of Modern Art was in full swing with the Sixties generating an artistic smorgasbord of art styles and new media. Much of his early career was spent learning about art through teaching art. His imagery grew out of early television and graphic media. Spear paints both as a landscape painter and an abstractionist which characterizes his ecclectic tendencies. Philip Guston has had an influence on his art of recent. Exploring the art media's physical qualities is an important element in his style coupled with an atavistic love of an expressionistic drawing style.
