Description
If you were alive December 4, 1980, you will remember where you were when you heard the awful news of John Lennon's senseless murder. I know I did and it was a real shock. Shocking because somebody well known being shot down in cold blood was bad enough, but this was John Lennon. Lennon, the famous Beatle, the Peacenik, an icon of our generation. I think for many of us it signalled an end to our youthful ambitions. The freedom of thought and ideas that John imbued in an entire generation would be no more. No more possibilities of a reunion, no more music from this great voice. The world was robbed by bullets. I couldn't believe what I was witnessing on NBC news. So instead I set to work and tried to put down my feelings of loss onto paper. I wasn't even trying to do a great piece of work, I just wanted to get it out. Recently I found a photograph of the drawing, which I haven't owned in 30 years. So I decided to share it with Fine Art America. Even though its been all this time since, his death still gives me pause.
