Artist's Description
This pastel painting of a stately old oak tree was exhibited in the San Marcos National fine arts competition around 1984 and was awarded first place in the exhibition by the jurist,curator of the McNay Museum in San Antonio. It also won the Aquarena Springs Purchase Prize and remains in the collection of Texas State University which acquired the former tourism resort.
About Dan Terry
Dan Terry is a multiple award holding fine artist of national renown, having exhibited in many juried exhibitions including the National Pastel Exhibition at the National Arts Club in NYC, the Witte Museum, Laguna Gloria Museum, and in the Alamo Mission's permanent collection. He took both Best in Show and Aquarena Spring's Purchase Award at SMAL National Juried show judged by the Director of the McNay Museum. A 365' oil mural remains in the permanent collection of San Antonio's Witte Museum. Recently he's been commissioned for a series of murals in the heart of Austin, Texas's Historic Entertainment District. One of those incorporates his innovation of using programmable mood lighting built in to an architectural arched shadow box to...
