Great photo, treatment and description. I get the same feeling from this. I like checking out places like this when I find them too. L/F

Outstanding processing and composition, Julie!

Julie Dant replied:

Hey Greg! Thanks so much! ;0))

I really like this. I think the tattered curtains and broken, shabby window are my favorite. Your use of filtering really brings out the beauty in this old house. Great job. Must check out more of your work.

Julie Dant replied:

Thank you so much, Pam! This is one of my personal favorites..but then again...my abandoned houses are close to my heart...they all remind me of my great grandmother's home. ;0) I really appreciate your very kind comments! ;)

I thought to myself. Someone's grandma probably planted them right there so she could see them when she looked out that window. It was a mix of melancholy and delight to see them. This is one of my most favorite of my abandoned house photos. I call them Solemn Relics.

My name is Julie Dant and I live in the small town of Washington, in southwestern Indiana, in the United States. In the mid to late 90's, I began searching out and documenting with black and white photographs, old abandoned houses all over Indiana, the Midwest, Southeast and Deep South, with the intention of publishing a pictorial book one day. The book has not come to pass as of yet, however I have produced a video in which all of my Indiana houses are featured accompanied by beautiful Celtic music. It is entitled SOLEMN RELICS.
