Bloodstone is green jasper dotted with red spots of iron oxide. According to the legend when drops of Christ's blood fell and stained some jasper at the foot of the cross. Heliotrope was called by the Hellenes and was ought to bring change. The blood stone is used for circulation of blood. Has been used as an amulet to protect against the evil eye. Bloostone is the symbol of justice.

Andonis Katanos

I combine photography, archaeology and nature. Born in Istanbul and was awarded B.A degree in Anthropology and History of Art from S.U.N.Y. at New Paltz, New York. Recently I reside in Greece, cooperating with publishing houses and magazines. I have published articles with photos covering from Neolithic, Cycladic, Minoan, Mycenaean, Bronze Age, Geometric, Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine period up to Medieval times.
