Heroin For The Masses (Catching Flies Like Sweet Molasses)
Painted by David Shumate while in serving time in a maximum security prison in GA. Funny thing about prisons, they don't have a lot of art stores. All art supplies are handmade and colors made from supplies Dave can forage from the prison such as coffee and candies.
Dave's in Prison. Funny thing about prison is they don't have a lot of art stores. All of the art produced by Dave is done on the back of Prison Request Forms because there is no paper, he makes his own brushes and mixes his own colors making browns from coffee and reds from cinnamon candy.
At the end of 2009 Dave tried to commit "Suicide by Cop" by walking into a Walgreens drug store, waving a fake gun and demanding to see the narcotics. He then swallowed 200 Oxycontins and raised his fake gun at the responding police officers who then shot him twice. But Dave's not dead. He was give 20 years with no parole for his suicide attempt by a judge who has since be removed from the bench for misconduct.
All proceeds from Dave's art sale...
