The sun dial is a piece of timekeeping equipment that uses the sun to tell the time of day. The earliest known record of sundials goes back to 3500 BC. The Old Testament of the Bible describes a sundial in Isaiah and II Kings. The craftsmanship of this timekeeper is very ornate with a sculpture of some kind. Many periods used astrological signs for this purpose. There are also Roman numerals on it and an emblem of eagle�s wings spread and an old-fashioned sand-filled hour glass in the center of the wings. The phrase, I Count None But Sunny Hours, is written across the bottom of the plate. Time has taken its toll on this piece of history as is evident by the rust. Now, its resting place is on the grounds of an historical museum in Dade City, Florida.
