The angel was constructed with hand made papier mache' clay as well as strips of paper. The face and body were hand painted and sanded several times. The eye lids are graced with real eyelashes and New Zealand wool sneaks out beneath her bonnet for her hair. The bonnet was made with recycled fabrics hand dyed, painted and decorated with crystals and a handmade 3-d cardinal . Wings are made from ornamental wooden trims and the bodice is inlaid with antique laces and hand painted to match the bonnet. She stands approximately 16 inches tall and was a joy to create!
She instantly inspired several titles, but the one I chose seemed to be the most appropriate. The second choice was "The Hills are Alive" from the famous "Sound of Music" and that was the thought behind creating the montage of herself with the beautiful mountains and meadows of Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta, Canada.
