About the Image

In the Land of Brigadoon by Kip DeVore

In the Land of Brigadoon. A fanciful composite of Arcadia Valley near the state's highest point, Taum Sauk Lookout in Ironton, Missouri: In foreground, boulders of Elephant Rocks State Park, flag and hole No. 1 at AV County Club, dam and spillway at Shepherd Mountain Lake; "The Maples" estate red water tower; Pilot Knob Mountain, St. Paul's Episcopal Church (c. 1870), the antebellum courthouse (1860) tucked into Shepherd Mountain; distant bald eagles emerging from recent near-extinction; mountain-top Taum Sauk Reservoir at far distant right; and Business Highway 21 dividing the valley. Some visitors compare this area to the Highlands of Scotland, perhaps reminicent of the Hollywood film, "Brigadoon". Available in print sizes to 8" x...

I was born and raised here, studied and later taught art at a nearby community college, received my BA in...
