Artist's Description
Internet transmission speed, IBM research. IBM scientist Lukas Kull holding a silicon wafer with five of his prototype analog-to-digital converters. Kull works at IBM Research-Zurich, Switzerland. The devices were manufactured at IBM's fabrication facility in Fishkill, New York, USA. These converters are an improvement in signal conversion technology, doubling internet speeds to 100 gigabits per second. Photographed in February 2013 at the 2013 International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC), San Francisco, California, USA.
