About the Image

Iron County Courthouse No W102 by Kip DeVore

Iron County Courthouse No W102, or also, "Picking the Tulips". Sunlight breaks through an early spring storm at the courthouse in Ironton, Missouri, as little girl in pink winter coat with hood in foreground kneels to pick an early spring tulip, and mother and daughter with umbrella at distant left stride happily into view. Painting is in watercolor with India ink on Arches 300 lb. cold press watercolor paper, original, 21" x 29", $4500 unframed. This painting's concept celebrates both the joy of an ordered society, which a courthouse helps insure, and mourns the loss of that society, which we seem to be undergoing now.
