Description
Iron County Courthouse No W102, or also, "Picking the Tulips". Sunlight breaks through an early spring storm at the courthouse in Ironton, Missouri, as little girl in pink winter coat with hood in foreground kneels to pick an early spring tulip, and mother and daughter with umbrella at distant left stride happily into view. Original is in watercolor with India ink on Arches 300 lb. cold press watercolor paper, original, 21" x 29", $4000 unframed. This painting's concept both celebrates the joy of an ordered society, which a courthouse helps insure, and mourns the loss of that society, which we seem to be undergoing now.

Beautiful and so much detail, I appreciate the skill in all this work having struggled to paint a picture of my own house recently! Love the colours, reflections and movement this too.

Great details in this watercolor. The composition is perfect and the water reflections are very realistic. L/F

An absolutely beautiful mastery of watercolor excellence, Kip, in this outstanding piece of fine artistry! Love your description, which is truly insightful, and the way you painted the many details, including the flags flying in the wind. Oustanding work all around! F/L

Kip, you've really extended the limits of watercolor's capabilities with this amazingly detailed painting, the threatening atmosphere alone is noteworthy--one can almost feel the wind...
