About Boyd E Van der Laan
Hello, I am Boyd (Bud) van der Laan. I grew up in South Western Michigan in the small town of Hudsonville. I started playing around with a camera at an early age. Over the decades, my little hobby would come and go depending upon whim or situation. Around 1998, I became more serious wth my 'little hobby'. Early on using Velvia and Provia films, I became entranced with it's saturation. Around 2002, always kind of a techie, I started switching to digital. The immediate gratification of 'seeing what you got' is a powerful thing. It didn't last long though. The film-like look just wasn't there. I switched back and forth using a high end scanner for the next several years and finally went fully digital when the sensors were equal to or better...
