For the longest time after I took this photo, I had no idea what the statue pointing in the general direction of the Eiffel Tower represented. At the time I took the photo, it very much reminded me of Don Quixote tilting at windmills, and that's still the first image that enters my mind when I see the dynamic tension between the rider on horseback and that golden tower.
I later discovered that the statue is in fact called La France Renaissante (France Reborn) and the rider is none other than Joan of Arc.
