Dawn and her husband Juel love to ride their favorite thirteen-mile trail down the rugged mountains to lush creek-side meadows, across a small river and a large creek, and up the other side. Here Juel turns his Mustang mare, Chiggy-bump, so he can dismount for lunch. While he and Dawn share sandwiches from their saddlebags, Chiggy-bump and Dawn's horse Shayna will enjoy a feast of tender, nutritious mountain grasses. Chiggy-bump spent the first 4 years of her life in the wild, running free with her wild horse band in Wyoming's Red Desert. She is a one-person horse and Juel is the only person she'll tolerate on her back, and even Juel has a time of it with her sometimes. Her "Chiggy-bump moments," as Dawn and Juel call them, can happen...

Dawn Senior-Trask

I have been an artist since I was knee high to a short-horned locust. My dad, Willoughby Senior (FAA) was a professional artist and writer and I have stepped in his shoes since I was born, though he drew horses better than I did when I was a kid. My family lived in a hand-hewn log cabin we built ourselves in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and had no water or electricity. I love my life with my husband and family in Wyoming among the horses, gophers, deer, antelope, coyotes, red-tailed hawks, and the wild landscape. My work is driven by the land, animals, wild plants and birds I have come to know so well. Hummingbirds still try to get nectar from my upturned fingers. My artwork consists of all these things and more...
