About the Image

Just After a Snowfall by Mary Machare

Black and white photo of my yard in Mequon, Wisconsin after a snowfall. The snow had fallen after a thick layer of ice had formed on the trees, roads and sidewalks, making it difficult to venture out of the door. Living in Mequon near Lake Michigan, often mitigates the severe weather. In winter temperatures are a bit milder than one will find even a couple miles to the west, but the northeast winds coming off the lake can bring large fluffy snowflakes and "Lake Effect" snowfalls. The name, Mequon, is a bit unusual. The area was originally inhabited by Native Americans; by the early 19th century, the Potawatomi occupied land west of the Milwaukee River, while the Menominee lived between the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan.[6]...

About the Artist - Mary Machare

Mary Machare

As a designer, I try to find the little twist that sparks a connection, a wave of delight. When not otherwise occupied with developing brands, logos, packaging and trade show displays, I travel with my artist husband in search of inspiration. Wherever we go, the camera is in my hand, capturing the little things that inspire awe or make me smile. And because I love to tinker, I often play in Photoshop to create unique results.
