About Dalani Tanahy
Aloha! My name is Dalani and I make kapa, which is pounded tree bark, kind of like my Hawaiian ancestors did over 200 years ago. Although we advanced to the new technology, some of us thought it would be cool to try and figure out just how they took that tree and made it into something soft and strong and awesome to wear or use or hang on a wall. Its also fun to tell my dad " yes it does", when he says, "MONEY DOESNT GROW ON TREES". Im lucky I could make a business out of doing something that I love, that connects me to my ancestors and that has played a part in the revival of a culture. The kapa images you see here are all of original hand grown, hand beaten, hand dyed paper mulberry tree bark. Not only do I grow my own trees...
