About the Image

Kurt Cobain27 by John Bruno

Kurt Cobain 27 is one in a series of 8 pieces I call Heaven 27. All 8 musicians in this series coincidently died at the age of 27. Starting with Robert Johnson in 1938 who some regarded as the father of rock & roll. Legend has it that Robert Johnson went from being a mediocre musician to an amazing musician after visiting the "Cross Roads" and selling his soul to the devil. In return for his fame, the devil took his life at 27. This series explores the idea that ALL these musicians visited their own "Cross Roads" and traded their souls for fortune and eternal fame. I'm currently working on 38 x 26 acrylic on canvas versions of this series. Copyright 2013 John Bruno - All rights reserved
