Artist's Description
Built in 1891 and rebuilt in 1910, League Park was Cleveland's original professional baseball field. Located at Lexington and E. 66th Streets in the Hough neighborhood, it was home to a plethora of early team names in Cleveland baseball history: the Indians, Lakeshores, Broncos, Blues, Bluebirds, Naps, Spiders, and Buckeyes. After finally being usurped by Municipal Stadium in the 1940s, League Field saw its last game by the Negro League's Cleveland Buckeyes in 1950 and was largely demolished in 1951. Parts of the stadium still stand and the site is currently used as a public park.
