Description
( Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved ) The Belle of Louisville returned to the Port of Cincinnati for her 6th Tall Stacks appearance. She once operated here as The Avalon, before being sold at auction to Jefferson County, Kentucky. Built in 1914, she is one of the last Mississippi River -style steamboats. In the 1940s she had a brief military career towing oil barges. Now the Belle is a popular excursion boat at her home port of Louisville. During all of the noise and crowds, she was often full of people and over-worked, so here she is just ...Letting Off Steam.

You have a truly great collection Mel, I have been so busy painting that I have been remiss in visiting my friends galleries. This marvellous steamer and its grand history, just speaks volumes to me. Boy, would I enjoy letting off a little steam, and relaxing on this gorgeous little boat. Looks like such summer fun, you have a real knack of bringing these oft seen treasures to life.
