I had held off purchasing any Super Bowl LVIII collectibles or memorabilia until I found something that I thought was just “awesome”. When I saw this SI Cover, I knew I had to have it. Honestly it’s one of the best photos I’ve ever seen. Along with the captions it captures what Super Bowl LVIII was all about. Your Photog was in the right place at the right time and did a great job of capturing what Chiefs fans all across the country felt at that moment. As you can see I had the perfect place for it, it makes this wall complete and up to date.

Glad to know the sailor was okay! I still wonder about the reefed main, and the ripped foresail. When I was new to sailing I and a girlfriend got caught in a full gale just outside the mouth of the Nuese river. We were in my refurbished (vintage, wooden) Lightning---a one design 19 ft racing/daysailer. I knew that the clouds approaching would bring wind with them. I just did not know how much! The appropriate action would have been to down the foresail, and reef the mail to the fullest extent. Long story short, the wind finally ripped the main from the mast, and we sailed home under bare poles! We came very close to losing the both the boat, and perhaps, our lives. Note: my girlfriend of the time did not swim. I debated long in my mind as to suggesting she put on a life jacket. (I did not want to alarm her) In the end, I made the suggestion, while sounding confident. I told her, “Every thing is FINE! I know exactly what I am doing!” I only hoped she could not see that the terror in my own face was as great as the terror in hers.....

Wow! Looks like they may have reefed the main before the crash. Yet the foresail was ripped at the head? I have seen many a sailing vessel sailing under the jib alone...something an experienced sailor NEVER does! It is obviously a keel boat. My guess is that she bottomed out between the swells, broke apart and started shipping water. LOTS of water! I hope everyone was okay. Just this week a community right down the road from me lost a high-school on lake Erie in a power boat crash.
Deanna Proffitt replied:
The gentlemen, who was traveling alone, was fine he hit hurricane weather in the Pacific Ocean and he lost power and made it just of the Washington coast. So sorry to hear about the accident of the high school accident, very sad.
