As an abstract expressionist who has been primarily self-taught, Walter Redondo’s earliest artistic influences are Joan Mitchell, Cy Twombly, Willem DeKooning, and Robert Motherwell. In his work, one can identify touches of DeKooning’s palette, of Motherwell’s literate spatial sense, Twombly’s use of calligraphic line and marking, and also his rich, creamy colors and open areas of canvas.
