This is one of three pieces that I am adding to my collection. Once I have received the other two pieces I will be happy to provide a photograph of the display. The quality of the art piece is exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase even more pieces!

We were disappointed that the name of the artist is cut off and not showing in full. We feel the name of the artist is an important part of it and would love to have it rectified

We live in the desert so the Palm theme resonates. The color scheme is brilliant and perfect. We would like to see more from this artist. Where do we look?
Artist's Description
Mabry Mill is a watermill located at milepost 176.2 of Blue Ridge Parkway in Floyd County, Virginia. It is a tourist attraction mainly for the picturesque views of the mill itself. A short trail around the mill connects historical exhibits about life in rural Virginia. The trail allows visitors to view the gristmill, sawmill, and blacksmith shop.
Mabry Mill was built by Edwin Boston Mabry (E.B. Mabry). E.B. Mabry returned to Floyd County in 1903 and began the construction of the mill. It was first a blacksmith and wheelwright shop, then became a sawmill. By 1905 it was in operation as a gristmill. By 1910 the front part of the mill was completed and included a lathe for turning out wheel hubs, a tongue and groove lathe, a planer and a jig-saw.

I hope you enjoyed your visit! Thanks so much for your kind comment on this piece, Tony!

Thank you, Anne-Elizabeth, for the nice comments. I really appreciate it. As you well know, as an artist yourself and as described in your bio, words of encouragement really mean so much. I notice you are from Smithfield. I travel the state with my "real" job and just passed through a couple of weeks ago! :-)

Donna, I have been to Mabry Mill many times. I have happy memories from our family's visits there. We would always go to the restaurant there for pancakes (or as Daddy called them: "hotcakes".) This is a lovely painting. I like your description as well. (My father painted Mabry Mill many times, usually in the Fall season.)

Thank you, Helena!

Thanks, Roena. LOL! This one was not done en plein air, but was done from a photo we took sometime back. It just so happens that I'm heading out today for some plein air painting in this beautiful weather, though. Happy painting!

Lovely painting Donna. Is it en Plein Air? I have a friend who painted this location so I knew it as soon as I saw it. Concerning the "things" people see in our work. I once painted a scene people found a jack-o-lantern in the landscape and a cactus with 5 toes. RITFLOL I try to look now days at it for a bit before I post so I might see these things myself. All in fun!

Thanks, Will! I'm glad you like it. I was attempting a little different color palette here in honor of spring. I had not noticed the form of a woman. One of the fun things about art is hearing what others see/feel when viewing it.
