Description
Uptown New Orleans definitely has its own special character, for as much as anything as for the grid of one-way streets, the charming timber facades, the low hanging power lines, or the endlessly crumbling sidewalks and roads. In any other place, we would be lamenting such conditions as being run down and in a perennial state of disrepair. In truth, we do (at least I did) lament the extremely poor condition of the roads, but such conditions will always remind those of use that have left this great city of the great times we had there. This was the reasoning behind this shot: a seemingly mundane image of a suburban neighborhood. But it was my walk home every night from the shops, petrol station or my neighborhood bar the upscale Monkey Hill; and I felt compelled to take this long exposure shot to forever remind me of the character of Uptown New Orleans. This image was taken with a Nikon D300, on the cross street between Webster and Magazine, just a few blocks from Audubon Park in late 2011
