About the Image

Man of Flowers by Ingrid Schmelter

Man of Flowers and Bird Woman. Gelatin, foam plate and linocut relief print. It was almost there, and I had set it aside as it was too pale and I was afraid (thank goodness) to add any more layers to it. After many months out of sight, the answer was obvious. I inked by hand a few sparse details in black (with a indelible rollerball, a favourite tool) and declared it complete. The title just Ďisí. I have no idea what this means, the two just popped in and made their appearance. I donít yet know their story.

About the Artist - Ingrid Schmelter

Ingrid Schmelter

Ingrid Schmelter aka kaslkaos I am a graduate of the Ontario College of Art (now OCAD University) where I studied photography, print-making and figure drawing. Art is how I make sense of my world, internal and external. I interpret events, locations, and emotions in a variety of media choosing the approach according to the moment. The natural world, from which all life flows is my inspiration. My greatest goal in art is to illuminate and share my vision, challenging the viewer to see the natural world in a new way. You can find out more about my art and life at http://kaslkaos.blogspot.com, my artist illustrated journal.
