This is an outstanding piece of work. The aura of Powell River with its resident fishing boats is portrayed beautifully. The vessel “Shirley” is very thought provoking to me personally.

I am very pleased with the quality of the product, and the gift recipient loved it and brought them to tears as it was a sentimental gift.

Artist's Description
The black and white conversion of a Mancos Shale formation near Capitol Reef in Utah shows the textures, contours, and shapes of the unusual geology of the area beautifully. The expanse of a panoramic presentation gives but a hint of the unusual, surreal, almost lunar landscapes of the area. This image is also available in color in my The Southwest - Utah gallery.

After this, I have to look at my pictures of Capitol Reef to see if they lend themselves to black and white. You photography is highly inspirational.
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
As I say, I have this one in color, too. But I found that the rich blue sky did no favors for the fascinating play of light and shadow on the ridges and in the valleys since the tones of the actual landscape were actually very neutral. Do try some of yours in BW.

Ahhhh Utah... one of my most favorite states to visit and photograph. Impressive scene and image capture; and your B/W treatment exudes majesty and power. Love this.
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
Thank you very much, Hany. Soooo many photos from there yet to process! It's one of those places you just can't stop clicking :)
