Karen Cattel is a special artist and her whimsical art looks great on the two sturdy totes I purchased. One is a gift for a friend and the other is for me. I love them.

I so appreciate being able to have this old-fashioned outdoor dinner scene on a tote bag. It is adorable. Thank you for making it available.

I noted that the color came out differently on this size of bag, it is distinctly more purple. I happen to love that color also--the larger size has perfect color, exactly like the photo. I love both of my bags.

This artwork is inspired by the mandala, an ancient visual form that is widely used in eastern religions and in the western New Age movement. Mandala patterns are usually circular or square with a high degree of radial symmetry. They can be incredibly elaborate, always with an exact centre. The mental projection of oneself at the centre of a complex pattern may symbolize individual enlightenment amidst universal chaos. Yogic practitioners and Tibetan monks consider these designs to be Sacred Geometry and believe them to have healing properties. When accompanied by meditation, the mandala can focus the mind, release mental stress and promote a calm disposition. In my own experience, these compositions have a very calming effect. After only a few minutes of contemplating a mandala pattern, I usually come away with an elevated feeling of well-being: it's kind of miraculous, especially when I'm feeling stressed or depressed.
For the best possible result, I recommend printing my color images on Somerset Velvet paper, which is a surface that gives these works an impressive fine art feeling. My black and white images will look best on Cool Tone Picture Rag: a surface that really shows off the subtle variety of tones. The Premium Archival Matte paper is a very nice choice as a lower-cost alternative for any of my artworks. ABOUT ME: I've been making art for thirty years, during which time I've created a wide variety of paintings, sculptures, drawings and performance artworks. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Regina in 1990 and my Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Calgary in 1995. I've received numerous awards...
