Artist's Description
This is the former Franco American School in Lowell, MA where I taught grades K-8 as the art teacher for 8 years. It is also known as the Ayer Mansion; the most ornate building in Lowell.The building recently sold and will be developed for housing. I am sad that the era is over but glad it may get the updates it has needed for years. This particular painting of it has sold today, April 20, 2017, but a larger version is still for sale on this site. Prints are also available.
About Debra Bretton Robinson
Debra Bretton Robinson grew up in Plaistow, NH and received her degree from the Mass College of Art in Boston. She and her family reside in MA. Debra is now a participant in the vibrant Lowell, MA art scene. Her acrylic paintings on canvas concentrate on the natural landscapes and architecture of New England in vibrating colors. Most of her work is done "en plein air" or on site, outdoors. Frequently her scenes are painted while on her “floating studio”, her husband’s boat, while he fishes. Her style borders between representational and abstract. The colors and lines of her paintings are inspired by Matisse during the Fauvist movement.
