My mother-in-law, Marie, kept this teapot many years. She was an artist, herself, and I've always wondered if she hadn't kept it to someday paint it. Sitting down to a warm cup of tea brings feeling of comfort, relaxation, joy and serenity to my mind. I'm happy this little still life also gave me those same feelings.
In 1996 I read Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way" and became inspired that MAYBE I could paint. In 1997 I took an oil painting class in Beaumont, California with A. Goodman. I joined the San Gorgonio Pass Artist's Association and Hemet Valley Art Association and won many awards in juried shows with my landscape and seascape paintings. I am a member of the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
In 2006 my husband and I moved to New Mexico and I joined the Rio Grande Art Association and New Mexico Art League. I took a plein air painting workshop "Enchanted Landscapes" with David W. Mayer April 22-24, 2010 in Albuquerque. I started an art blog, joined Twitter, LinkedIn and added a Jo Anne Neely Gomez Art Studio page on Facebook.
