This painting has won the hearts of many throughout the years. My mother sewed all of Leslie's clothes, from smocked dresses to the beautiful French Hand Sewn dresses and bonnets. This painting is Christmas Eve when we allowed Leslie to open one gift. It was her American Girls Collection doll, Samantha's, nightgown. Mother had made Leslie a matching nightgown for Christmas Eve and she was putting the finishing touches on it. In the background is the Bernina Sewing machine Daddy had given mother. Her antique sewing box from Japan and my Grandmother's button box I used to play with. These are family heirlooms to be passed down through the generations.
