Artist's Description
I once saw this baby girl, at a outdoor lotus park, while living in Taiwan. As a new Westerner to this culture it was mesmerizing watching her, as her mother tried to feed her noodles with chopsticks. Her mandarin speaking mother kept saying "Little sister, eat eat"( Měiměi chī chī) ,but she had stopped eating as she kept her gaze on me. Her eyes got big. I must have been the first foreigner she ever saw. So amused, I went home and painted her. And one of my first portraits.
