This is one of three pieces that I am adding to my collection. Once I have received the other two pieces I will be happy to provide a photograph of the display. The quality of the art piece is exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase even more pieces!

We were disappointed that the name of the artist is cut off and not showing in full. We feel the name of the artist is an important part of it and would love to have it rectified

We live in the desert so the Palm theme resonates. The color scheme is brilliant and perfect. We would like to see more from this artist. Where do we look?

Artist's Description
Keep your head up while walking along Gran Via in Madrid, Spain! (Head up, but hands firmly on your camera and your wallet). Street level is the hustle and bustle of the modern city but high up is the beauty of another era. The Metropolis Building or Edificio Metropolis is an office building at the corner of the Calle de Alcala and Gran Via. Inaugurated in 1911, it was designed by Jules and Raymond Fevrier for the insurance company La Union y el Fenix. They gave the building a French, Beaux-Arts style, which was quite unusual at the time. The ground level is topped by ornate colonnaded upper floors. The columns support 4 statues representing Mining, Agriculture, Industry and Commerce, made by Saint Marceaux and L. Lambert. At the foot of the dome is a statue sculpted by D. Mariano Benlliure. The rounded tower is covered with 30000 leaves of 24 carat gold. In 1972 Metropolis Seguros acquired the building. They understood that it was one of Madrid's landmarks and should be maintained, an...
About Joan Carroll
Protected with PIXSY About Joan Carroll: I am a Fort Worth Texas-based outdoor photographer who feels at home while on the road...in Texas, in the US, around the world. My photographic goal is to travel the world in a curious yet respectful way, taking the time to see and understand the unique story of each place I visit. Wherever I go I want to walk every street, hike every trail, ride the bus or metro, climb every tower, walk around and through every monument, and then do it all over again when the light changes. In every place, light, mood, color, and...
