I fell in love with this photo the day that Jan posted it. The cards are beautiful, frame able for a small space. I like that they have plenty of room for writing or doodling inside.

Artist's Description

The noteworthy shift toward the undeniable commodification of art and art packaged for mass consumption took place at the Met in February of 1963 when the John F. Kennedy family attended the first public showing of the Mona Lisa in the US.

What happened afterward that would change the way art is perceived has more to do with big money than with learning to appreciate fine art, to wit: People came to the Met, not to look at the Mona Lisa, but to say that theyd seen it...just as the Kennedy family had.

The entanglement of big money with art had forever tainted the way art is produced, controlled, and most notably, the way art is seen and appreciated. Da Vinci's little painting had taken a quantum leap from artwork to icon for mass consumption practically overnight.

About Patrick Anthony Pierson

Patrick Anthony Pierson

Patrick Pierson: A TABLEAU OF DREAMS, NO LIMITS Born Pádraig Anton-Piers in 1953 on the outliers of Baile Átha Cliath, Éire (Ireland), the artist changed his name to Patrick Pierson in 1961 when he and his family immigrated to America. Initially represented and published by the Meisner Gallery in New York City, Patrick eventually settled in Palm Beach, Florida and established Fyshwerks Studio Gallery - a fine art studio, smithy, display gallery and publishing house that would become the birthplace for the creatures that were destined to inhabit the realm of Planet Zootopia.
