An acrylic painting 25x60 inches of an Iconic formation in the Monument Valley National Tribal Park. It is not possible to show in any size painting the dramatic images you see in Monument Valley. For some of them are over 1000 feet tall, think a 100 story building and you begin to get the picture. But the number of unique formations are seemingly endless in an area larger than the state of West Virginia.
Monument Valley (Navajo: Ts� Biiʼ Ndzisgaii, meaning valley of the rocks) is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 ft (300 m) above the valley floor. It is located on the Arizona-Utah state line (around 36�59′N 110�6′W), near the Four Corners area. The valley lies within the range of the Navajo Nation Reservation, and is accessible from U.S. Highway 163.

Louis Sylvia, Nadines teacher and mentor for over a decade, did paintings of Whalers, Central Park, and much more, in great detail. His paintings are in the Louvre and many other Museums, as one of the top ten Marine painters in the world. For five years, I sat in the back of his classroom on the steps, watching him teach. So many students, there was no room for a chair. But, though did not paint there, learned a LOT from him. Then, learned even more watching Nadine paint for over 49 years, and every year with her, has been better and better. Bob

Click on any area to see it in High Res close up. Shrinking an image from 60inches to less than 8 makes it difficult to see that detail

Its easier to create a good painting, than a photograph. You dont have to put as much detail in it to suggest shapes etc. You do not have to attempt to remove telephone poles, wires, trashcans, houses where you do not want them as they spoil the composition. ;>)
