Reference photos used for this painting were taken at the edge of Kenai Lake on the Kenai Penninsula in Alaska. It was early spring and the snow was still on the mountain peaks. Kenai Lake a glacial lake is filled with silt from the melting glaciers, thus the turquoise color.
