MOUNTAIN LION MOTHER WITH CUBS: At age nine, I saw my first mountain lion out the cabin window and followed its tracks in the spring mud. I seemed to have breathed some of its spirit into my pores that day, for the mountain lion has haunted my dreams and artistic vision ever since. A pair of the big cats raises their young in a rugged ravine in the area, and though seldom seen, sometimes they send their spine-tingling screams through the secret recesses of the canyon.

I have been an artist since I was knee high to a short-horned locust. My dad, Willoughby Senior (FAA) was a professional artist and writer and I have stepped in his shoes since I was born, though he drew horses better than I did when I was a kid. My family lived in a hand-hewn log cabin we built ourselves in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and had no water or electricity. I love my life with my husband and family in Wyoming among the horses, gophers, deer, antelope, coyotes, red-tailed hawks, and the wild landscape. My work is driven by the land, animals, wild plants and birds I have come to know so well. Hummingbirds still try to get nectar from my upturned fingers. My artwork consists of all these things and more...
