The inspiration for this painting was found in my own garden in my backyard where I observe nature in all it's forms from the hummingbird feeder and old man birdhouse in the background to the birdbath, blue heron statue and flowers and greenery. We have many birds that frequent this garden and New Mexico a place where the four seasons are experienced to the full the summer and fall are the most beautiful times when things are in bloom to observe.
In 1996 I read Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way" and became inspired that MAYBE I could paint. In 1997 I took an oil painting class in Beaumont, California with A. Goodman. I joined the San Gorgonio Pass Artist's Association and Hemet Valley Art Association and won many awards in juried shows with my landscape and seascape paintings. I am a member of the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
In 2006 my husband and I moved to New Mexico and I joined the Rio Grande Art Association and New Mexico Art League. I took a plein air painting workshop "Enchanted Landscapes" with David W. Mayer April 22-24, 2010 in Albuquerque. I started an art blog, joined Twitter, LinkedIn and added a Jo Anne Neely Gomez Art Studio page on Facebook.
