This painting I did in a folk art style with a mix medium combine with an old music sheet that fell out of a hymnal. The song My Wonderful Lord was written by Haldor Lillenas in 1938. Lillenas was a prolific composer of hymns, and it is estimated that "in his lifetime, he wrote some 4,000 hymns, and supplied songs for many evangelists...
Haldor Lillenas was born in 1885 and died in 1959. This hymnal was (C) in 1938 and renewed in 1966, this is one of original hymn sheet.
On the very bottom of the page you can read the date of the copyright music (1938) and the renewed in 1966, by Lillenas Publishing Co.
About the Artist:
J.D. grew up in Southern Ca back when they had farms and orange groves. Life was simple back then and some of her creations are a reproduction of a time past.
As a very young child, just as today, she live, eat and breathe art. As far back as she can remember she was never without a pencil, crayon or paper in her hands. She was always doodled, or coloring in her many coloring books that her mom was always buying her.
In the 70ís she picked up her 1st paint brush and she began to paint in Oils but by the late 80ís she start to expand her creativity to using mix media. In the 90ís she started to painted with acrylics but did not do much with then until 2009. In 2010 she started to work with eggs as a medium also....
